RM Bridge Modeler Help

Coordinate systems and geometrical adjustments

The global coordinate system

RM Modeler works with a right-hand system and the 3 coordinates X, Y and Z, where X and Y are the ground plan coordinates and Z the level (elevation).

RM works by default with a left-hand system and the 3 coordinates X, Z and Y, where X and Z are the ground plan coordinates and Y is the level (elevation).

The local coordinate system of the cross section

RM Modeler describes the coordinate axes by X (horizontal) and Y (vertical). Constructing the cross section, it is seen against the axis direction (= beam direction). This is related to the view in RM.

RM describes the local coordinate axes of cross sections by Z (horizontal) and Y (vertical), which are the local beam axes.

Adjustment

RM Bridge Modeler supports both the option "RM Bridge Modeler" and "RM Bridge" for the coordinate systems above. The input window "Configuration" has a button "Coord. system" to set the desired option.

Direction of curves for defining axis elements

RM Modeler differs right- and left turning curves by the input of negative and positive radii, respectively for defining circles and spirals.

Adjustment

The input window "Configuration" has a button "Curves" for setting the desired option.

Default: Left turning curves are described by positive radii (curvatures).
